2014-07-15 L Anse-St-Jean Marina to Rimouski Marina

We left St. Jean at 3 a.m.'ish in order to catch favorable tides and currents, as today we crossed the St. Lawrence River from it's north side to the south side - about a 20 mile crossing so want the most favorable sea state.  We are headed for the marina at Rimouski.  We are staying mostly at marinas along our journey on the St. Lawrence - there are very few anchorages.  We've benefitted from having marina staff call ahead "in French" to the next marina to make our reservations.

Huge granite mountains keep everthing stable here....

The sun rise made our trip out the river very interesting and the scenery  extra special.



 

Ferry dock get very busy this time of the day.... it's 0600 and folks are waiting to cross - two ferries are running at this time of the day....

Always floatsome to watch for.... here a nice size tree is sea bound....

No idea, but we saw lots of markers that we could not identify... some likely are research related

It was nice to finally get to Rmouski Marina...
 

Interesting entry to the harbor.. the construction hints to the serious weather this area can expect....

I believe we were told this ferry is bound for Newfoundland

fog and lite rain... but always big rocks waiting for the unweary mariner.....

The marina is one of the few safe harbors while making passage on the river in this area....

2014-07-14 L Anse-St-Jean Exploration

Anse-St.-Jean is very small, and we stayed mostly at the marina due to weather.  Here are some views of the little marina - the staff and members were so hospitable!

2014-07-12 Marina Cap-l-Aigle to the Saguenay Fjord/L Anse-St-Jean, QB

Back out on the St. Lawrence from our marina at Cap-L-Aigle as we continue eastward up the Saguenay Fjord to L'Anse-St.-Jean.

Approaching our marina in Anse-St.-Jean; it was small and we had a tight space, but it worked!  We were charmed by the 'welcoming committee' so many marina members came to help us dock!
