Downtown Beaufort is a wonderful southern city with lots of charm and history. More on our visit here later.
Left Beaufort and took the back roads through Sweden, Norway and Denmark…South Carolina that is to drive up to beautiful Greenville where we visited the Woodcraft franchise – ducked into the store just in time to beat the heavy rains.
Greenville Woodcraft is a wonderful store, and like the Jacksonville store, loaded with a broad selection of product and great staff! Every store we visit we learn of new product and great merchandising ideas. We will be passing on a full list of these to the gang back in Seattle!
Enjoyed our short visit, and then headed to a hotel where
staff recommended we head downtown for dinner.
We had heard previously that
Greenville was a popular, growing area for retirees, and now we can see
why. It reminded us a bit of Ann
Arbor. The downtown area was bustling on
a weekday evening and we had dinner at “Smoke on The Water a downtown restaurant
on the river which was highly recommended by a number of locals, including
Brenda and Paul Patterson, owners of the Woodcraft franchise in Greenville. Enjoyed some tasty “potato skins with pulled
pork on top” and Ron ordered a grilled pork chop, okra and squash, while I had
a crab cake sandwich on a brioche bun.
Yummy, yummy.
After
a short walk and drive around the downtown area we returned to hiit the hay
after taking a few minutes to plan out where we would drive to tomorrow.
